The questions you need to respond to are: • What are theories? • Why are theories important? • What is the purpose or role of educational theories? • How do theories related to education differ from theories more generally(Theory, curriculum design and pedagogy)?

Part 02

2.      Create a concept map for : Educational theories and theorist_ developmental learning theory Jean Piaget (500 words)

access an online concept or mind map builder, Mindmup (recommended): https://mindmup.com or Canva: https://canva.com and design and share a concept/mind map synthesising the following information Jean Piaget educational theorist and his theories investigated in this topic, using structure your concept/mind map with three 'branches', one covering each of the main requirement areas:

1. Brief biographical details (when and where did they live? what were the motivations or drivers of their theories (where did their theories 'come from')? what influence did their theories have during their lifetime and beyond?) 2. What are the key principles or ideas about curriculum, learning and/or teaching that their theories argued or promoted? 3. What influence has their theories had on educational practices, over time?

Your mind or concept map must be  annotated with links to  references and/or academic research that was used in its development.

Part 03

3. Creating an infographic promoting Montessori education

Montessori and Freire, both theorists advocated ideas about education that, to some extent, ran contrary to prevailing educational thought at the time, or in Freire's case, also ran foul of the beliefs of political leaders. In fact, Paulo Freire was imprisoned by the military dictatorship in 1964, and he and his family were exiled from Brazil from 1964-1980 for what were seen as 'subversive elements in his teaching'. He lived in exile in Bolivia and Chile where he continued his work in impoverished and underserved communities, further refining his thinking about education and its importance for challenging oppression and dominant power structures.

For this task, we want you to 'turn back time' to the days of Montessori OR Freire, and imagine you were one of her or his students.

You have been asked by your mentor to talk to a small audience on their behalf. You are to describe and explain the key principles and ideas behind their respective educational theory, to a small group of parents who are keen to learn more about it, as they are considering enrolling their child in a school which aligns with their theoretical ideas.

task is to design an infographic to use at your presentation to the parents. The infographic should be useable as an aid to your talk and introduce the main principles and ideas behind the theory, and how it relates to the type of education their child will experience in the school.
