Then participate in Dialogue Discussion

Discuss the importance of audience analysis. Were the speakers successful? What techniques did they utilize to enhance their speeches?

Part 2: Post your speech topic for Informative Speech 1 – List what you think will be the important aspects of the topic you want to discuss. Comment on 5 classmates’ posts – providing them with information that will help them better understand aspects of the topic as they prepare and plan their speeches.

For example: If a student posts they want to give their speech on “The evolution of the human race” you might reply that you’d like to hear (as one of their 3 main points) more about recent evolution and how the use of smartphones is predicted to change the shape of the human hand as we continue to evolve.”

Simply replying “good topic! I can’t wait to hear it” etc., will not be sufficient.

This could be the loss of a pet, loss of a friendship, divorce of parents, moved to a new city, etc… How did you experience the 5 stages of grief? How did it make you feel and how did your friends and family respond? Did they use supportive language or did they make the mistakes of attempting to help you “move on.” What advice would you give someone experiencing a similar loss?
